Miliband wants stricter rules on football club ownership.

Post by papa_umau on Wed 14 May 2014, 11:22 am

Ed Miliband has called for tighter rules on the ownership of football clubs.

The Labour leader said new “fit and proper” person tests are needed to prevent clubs being bought by unscrupulous businessmen simply to “shuffle around debt”.

Fans have become “anxious” that top flight football is now dominated by hugely wealthy owners and tickets are becoming too expensive for many fans, Mr Miliband said.

I agree that it is about time that these rich oligarchs, ( especially the foreign ones ), should have to prove that they really care about the football clubs that they buy instead of just using them as ways and means to shuffle debt around and to get easy tax breaks from.

    Anybody ?

    Probably Zathrus.

Mind you I cannot see Miliband being able to change this much as it is set by the free-market rules is it not ?
