ATOS quits and victims call for end to assessments.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 24 Feb 2014, 11:58 am

Brits wrongly denied sickness benefits welcome the news that the company running the work capability assessments are ending their £500m deal with the Government, but now these victims want the entire scheme to be scrapped.

The French company revealed in a surprise announcement they had been in discussions for “several months” about ending the £500million deal with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Thousands of seriously ill and vulnerable people have been deemed fit to work by the tests.

    Just one typical example:

Very recently a man who was too ill to attend fit-for-work interview but terrified of losing benefits, died after ATOS test.

Terry McGarvey, 48, died hours after he was hauled into an ATOS fit-for-work assessment. He had to be taken to hospital by ambulance after this assessment and he died the following day.

I wonder if this government have any decency at all when we read of cases like this just about every day.

I hope that the people and their families who have been terrorised by this French company remember when they come to lay their crosses next year.

And, a secret government memo to the DWP telling them to keep paying all benefits without restriction has been leaked.

Just a shame that I am not on benefits then, isn't it ?

You should thank your lucky stars you are NOT on benefits mate, as it is no fun being in that situation.

Anyway, thanks for that bit of info' - which I have confirmed by searching for it - and we shall see just how quickly the Con-Dem government award this contract to the next pals on their privatised list.

It will probably be given to G4S or some other privateers.

We are just going to have to wait and see which of their buddies get the contract and if they are going to be any better than ATOS at doing it.
