    My New Year wish.

Post by zathrus on Thu 26 Dec 2013, 12:26 pm

One of the things that is important to me and to some of my family is the need for food-banks and the terrible growth of these concerns.

One might think that The Tories might be a bit ashamed of themselves for this situation, but in fact they do not give a damn about the people who are starving on the streets of Britain.

A perfect example of this was shown when the Labour opposition tried to shame the Tories in the commons by debating this rise of the food banks. All that happened was that the government benches laughed and jeered at these valid questions instead of showing a willingness to debate the issue.

They will pay for this. It is just a shame that we will have to wait until 2015 before we see them pay.

Don't just take my word for it, read and watch this: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/food-banks-debate-video-iain-2941100

I am with you one hundred percent Zath' on this one.

This government are going to come to be known as the "Scrooge government" to go with the already-named "nasty party" that is trying to quietly dismantle the welfare state so that their privateer pals will be able to make money from the British people by filling the gaps made by these destructive Con-Dem policies.

To use a Winston Churchill quote..... "Never, in the field of human conflict, has so many people owed so much, ( evil intent ), to so few"

They are not daft. They know that most of these people will not even vote when the time comes round.

That is why they think they can get away with hammering the lower-classes. They very seldom complain about what government does.

Yes Angie, that is a sad and correct fact.

That is why I have always subscribed to the idea that voting is just too important for it to be left as a voluntary action.

If it was made compulsory, ( as it successfully has been in many other countries of the world ), we would see a true picture of who knows what and who wants what from any incoming government.

    You might be right Papa.

If voting was compulsory we would then at last see a truly balanced view of what the people want from government.

We so take democracy for granted in Britain and if it did not come so easy we might appreciate it more.

It's not all that radical an idea either, as a number of countries around the globe have introduced compulsory voting successfully.

Of course, if compulsory voting was introduced in Britain no Tory party would ever get elected again and that is why the Tories will never introduce that kind of legislation here.

Thanks for the vote of confidence HG.

Mind you, compulsory voting is something that we will be very unlikely see in Britain.
