    Walker's crisps rip-off.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 07 Oct 2013, 12:23 pm

    Hi folks.

I have today sent a message to Walker's Crisps to complain about how much money they must be obviously spending, ( wasting ), on the in-your-face Gary Lineker adverts on the TV and in the other media when the packets of crisps themselves are getting smaller in amounts of contents almost every week.

I recently bought a packet of Walker's crisps and I was shocked by the small amount of crisps that was actually in the bag. ( approximately eight crisps of different sizes that would come from about a third of a medium-sized potato ).

I have suggested to Walker's that it might be a good thing to spend less money on glittery and spectacular adverts and spend more money on the amount of crisps that go in the packet.

After all, if the product itself is bad value for money then no amount of flashy Gary Lineker adverts or competition prizes is going to ameliorate this value rip-off, are they ?

Has anybody else found this ?

    Right on Paps.

It would not be so bad if the crisps were all that good, but they are not.

They are often small and greasy and in many cases the bottom of the bag is filled with crispy crumbs. Then, on top of that the bag is only about a third full.

Maybe they need all of those stupid Gary Lineker adverts to keep selling their crap crisps and without that kind of advertising nobody would buy them at all.

I HATE Walkers crisps anyway. They are the nastiest green-tipped, misshapen and greasy crisps that are on the market.

I much prefer Golden Wonder crisps and KPs The Real McCoy's as they are larger, more crunchy and have more in the packet, while being fairly priced.

I hate to think what Gary Lineker gets for doing those adverts, and I don't think it is just crisps for life. Evil or Very Mad

    Walkers Crisps

Post by Technician on Sun 13 Oct 2013, 9:18 am

    Hi all,

Just got back from Budapest where we were NOT ripped off!!!.

Now, that's a great point. Walkers are a pet hate of mine. You are quite right to complain (doubt if they will respond ). I NEVER buy the overpriced rubbish....very poor value for money. Just got a multpac of Croc crisps from Lidl the other day for 89p. Quite adequate for the odd snack and they taste Ok too.

Hi again Technician. You certainly get about a bit.

As you will already know, the wife and I already buy such things in Aldi too. Although, for some reason, the Lidl shops in Scotland seem to be less "cared-for" and they often look a bit tired, while Aldi is always fresh-looking and well stocked.

Maybe this is just a regional thing.
