    Camelot pulls a fast one.

Post by papa_umau on Thu 03 Oct 2013, 11:01 am

From today, each entry to the Camelot owned and run national lottery, ( Lotto ),will be charged at DOUBLE the rate when each entry moves from 1.00 to 2.00 a shot.

When I go into town for other reasons every Wednesday I usually use my fastplay ticket to buy five lucky dips for each of my wife and myself, but when I tried it yesterday I was refused as they were no longer taking any entries for the Saturday draw at a pound per line.

As I feel that this arbitrary DOUBLING of the price for each ordinary or lucky dip shot is totally out of all reason I told the sales assistant that I would be buying no more Lotto tickets and that I would now buy the Health Lottery tickets, ( still set at one pound per shot ), instead.

If everybody did that Camelot would find that their new - and profit-crazy - two-pounds-a-shot lottery would start to fail.

Well folks, what are YOU going to do ?

I have never done the big lottery anyway as all I do is to buy a few scratchers now and again.

Camelot are a profit-driven entity and as such we should expect them to try it on now and again.

I actually wanted Richard Branson to get his not-for-profit lottery franchise, but I guess that Camelot had more money to chuck at the corrupt authorities than Branson had and that is why they got the franchise and Branson didn't.

I too wanted Richard Branson to get the not-for-profit lottery at last franchise review. Maybe he will get it next time round.

I would really love to see millions of people refusing to pay that 2.00 a shot lottery and Camelot getting into deep trouble because of it.

I guess we are just going to have to wait and see how many of the punters out there refuse to pay this 2.00 rip-off.

They certainly have "pulled a fast one" as you say Papa.

This company are feeding on the bad habits of the gamblers out there by offering even bigger prizes and regular raffles too. I just hope that most of the lotto-players see this for what it is; an appeal to one of the worst qualities of humanity: GREED.

It will be the Health Lottery for me, still at a pound, if I do any lottery at all, that is.

Yes, me too Angie, as I have already switched from the Lotto to the Health Lottery.

Camelot will no longer get the tenner a week that me and the wife used to spend between us on the Lotto.

Gambling is just a mugs game anyway, and just like cards, horses, dogs, casinos and even bingo, the lotteries are a stupid direction to chuck your hard-earned readies in.

Have any of you noticed how many adverts are on the afternoon TV for the number of different kinds of gambling now available on computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones these days ?

If we were all to take these crooks up on their attractive adverts we would be in one heluva state of debt.

This kind of advertising should be banned.

Yes Zath, I HAVE noticed these adverts on daytime TV.

This would suggest to me that they are targetting people who are stuck at home instead of out working, and all that says is that they think that these idle people are needing something to do all day.

I guess it is for this same reason that the payday loans companies are on the TV during the day too.
