    Ed has finally said it......

Post by papa_umau on Sat 21 Sep 2013, 12:54 pm

Ed Miliband has finally said that he will scrap the bedroom tax if Labour get re-elected in 2015.

He finally admitted this in an interview just before the Labour conference started in Brighton.

I suspect that he has realised that after Alex Salmond had said the exact-same thing up here in Scotland he had to stand up and be counted about this hated tax.

He also said that he would finance this by closing tax loopholes for the London square mile hedge-funds and by clawing back the massive one-off 15,000,000 rebate of stamp duty that Osborne gave them in his last budget.

Yes Papa, he has "finally" said it.

Something tells me that he is under pressure to make the Labour party more electable by starting to show some policies that might earn him some credibility.

Nick Clegg hit him hard by pointing out that Labour and Ed Miliband in particular have little to say and even fewer plans laid out in order to start to look like an effective party and leader.

I cannot wait for his keynote speech at the Labour conference later this oncoming week.

Too true Hugh, and Cameron is now going to try to find something to come back with.

There is no doubt that Cameron's Tory coalition are now known by most as the "nasty" government and if the people who have been attacked by his brutal policies actually vote against him in the election, his Tory-led government is going to be totally wiped out.

The great fear here is that the people from that demographic seldom vote anyway. Maybe they actually will this time. scratch

Hi Angie I am not going to argue they are the nasty party to the many, but they may not be nasty to many others, all a question of numbers. At the moment I would still put my money on the Tories staying in power. Please note I didn't say Cameron.

And never a truer word was spoken Angie, as yesterday Cameron came out with the election bribe that some, "some" I tell you, married people will get tax breaks just because they are married.

Of course that only goes for those on the basic rate of income tax, with only one partner working, and it means that couples who are separated, divorced or who are widows or widowers will get nothing.

A lot of children are going to lose out on this divisive and derisive bribe.

Not only is it a blatant election bribe, but it is a cheap and nasty one too.
