    Should they or shouldn't they.

Post by hughh on Wed 18 Sep 2013, 9:31 am

One year today Scotland vote to stay or go it alone. If I lived in Scotland I could see a good reason for saying yes. Green energy creation wind and sea power far better placed than England. For tourists plenty to offer. What's your views?

Well, Hughh, if you are actually asking ME about this I will have to state that even although I am a Labour supporter in UK elections, I am a Scottish Nationalist up here in Scotland. ( The Scottish Labour Party have sided with the Tories and the Lib-Dems too many times in Scottish Parliament votes for me to ever support them in this subject ).

As a Scottish Nationalist I will obviously be voting yes at that historic vote next year. In fact my whole family will be voting yes on that great day.

There are still a few details that need to be ironed out so that all of the voters in Scotland will know what they will be letting themselves in for if/when they vote in any of these directions, but I am sure that most of these questions will be ironed out in the following year.

A lot of water has to flow under the bridge before that happens.

The few people I do know from Scotland who are scuba divers do not wish to break away from England. They are fairly well off farmers just to give you a clue how the vote will go.

While the Tory supporters, ( the few of them that are left in Scotland ), and the gentlemen farmers - as you say - will almost certainly vote with the NO camp and some of the Scottish Labour people will vote NO too up here, I think that there are enough Scots people that really care about Scotland's autonomy and escape from London rule that will vote YES.

If the same large numbers of people in Scotland that elected the SNP to government, vote YES too then I think that this majority will also vote for independence as well.

In another radical and brilliant move the SNP have allowed the sixteen and seventeen year-old people in Scotland a vote on this referendum and I feel that most of these young people will have enough passion to vote YES too.

There are many thousands of people still to make up their minds about this vote and I also think that eventually most of these people will not lose the chance to make such a historic change to Scotland's future by voting NO.

I guess we are going to have to wait and see about this.

Certainly going to be a lot of information for you to chew over, during the coming year from both camps. Will you be able stay a member of Europe that's of course if you want to. Who will own the off shore oil and gas. Then there's the subject of the arm forces to be sorted out. Royal mail no problem there Scotland will be able start their own. Going to be some very interesting discussions during the coming year.

    Hi again Hugh.

Yes, it is going to be very interesting up in Scotland in the coming year and a lot of good stuff is going to have to be ironed out before the people know enough to be able to make an informed decision about this vote.

Mind you I do think that many of the Scots will just vote with their hearts rather than with their brains as that feeling of independence is a heart and soul thing rather than a practical thing.

If I was a Scot I know for certain where my vote would go.

The people of the North, including the Scots, have been mucked about and ripped off for far too long by the rich and selfish South Easterners in my view.

Hi Zathrus if we both lived in up there, it sounds like the yes camp would have two votes already. To me if the yes camp won it would hurt us. To me they have every thing to gain and nothing much to lose.

Dead right mate and the London treasury would lose one heluva lot of taxation too.

I might even move to Scotland if they get independence as as far as I am concerned England is buggered.

That is if they will let me in at the border of course. Twisted Evil
