    Lib-Dems.... It's make-your-mind-up time.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 17 Sep 2013, 12:23 pm

Two very strange and contradictory votes went through the hall during the Liberal Democrat conference yesterday.

Firstly the Lib-Dem throng voted down the coalition bedroom tax and right afterwards they supported the Tory plans for the reform of the welfare system.

As the bedroom tax is an important and integral part of the Tory plans for the reform of the welfare system these votes contradicted each other very badly.

Maybe the Lib Dem faithful need to make their minds up and actually defeat Tory plans that they don't agree with because if they don't they are forever afterwards going to be seen as the lickspittle Tory vindicators that they truly are.

I find that very funny mate lol!

It just goes to prove that the Lib-Dems are just a bunch of chickens running about looking for their heads.

While I think that Clegg's speech was actually quite a good one I do not think that it is going to have any effect whatsoever on the Lib-Dems' future in British politics as they have been traitors to the grass roots of the Lib-Dem supporters too many times while they sucked up to the Tories.

Well mate, I am hoping it will be: 1 ). The Labour Party, 2 ). The UKIP party, 3 ). The Tory Party, and 4 ). The Lib Dems as by then I would think that anything that looks like a Tory, except the UKIPPERS, will be in deep do-do.

The two major policies of the UKIP party, ( Immigration and Europe ), could raise them up in the polls, ( In England ), and could do serious damage to the Tories as most of the right-wingers that will go to UKIP will originate from previous Tory supporters.

Of course, as Nick Clegg said at the Lib-Dem conference: "He will be willing to join in a coalition AGAIN with any party that wants him" and that could very well be Labour next time.

I take it you mean the "YES" vote for independence up here in Scotland ?

If you do then I have already said that I suspect that if we do get independence from London rule we will find that the politics in Scotland will immediately polarise into left and right streams once again.

We are going to have to wait and see about that one.

If we DO get independence up here Scotland this will of course mean that the Scots will no longer be allowed to vote in UK-wide elections any more.

Even although this will be the case, I, and I am sure many others up here, will still be interested to see what goes on in politics in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

It COULD mean the eventual break-up of the United Kingdom but I don't think so as neither the Welsh nor the Northern Irish, never mind the Northerners in England are really up for - unlike the Scots - fighting for independence from London.
