The REAL Tony Blair stand up !

    I think he has !

Now that he is out of government and he no longer needs to perform for the electorate we see the real Tony Blair rising - like the scum on the soup - to the surface.

If only we had known how he really thinks before he made his three landslide election victories, I don't think he or his version of the Labour party, in New-Labour, would have been nearly so successful.

I guess that hindsight is truly a wonderful thing !

Yep Paps, its sure is !

Mind you, I think that Tony Blair was just acting the way that most politicians act when they want to impress the electorate.

    Nothing new there at all.

    So right in that Zath.

I guess that it is true that the saying is that: "Anyone who wants to be a politician should be disqualified for this desire!"

And they want us to trust them too !

Trust has to be earned and almost all politicians are so bent out of shape that most of them have lost our trust forever.

It will take a great lot of change for the electorate to trust them ever again.

The right wing Tory's have but one agenda, and that is to reduce the role of the State in favour of privatisation and charities, and get rid of welfare, because the Tory's believe in neither.

When our politicians today ask for our trust, they are literally taking the pee.

    Thanks Ivanhoe.

It was a bit of a pain that this function was not working properly after the recent software update by Forumotion, but now, thankfully, it is fine.

If ever you have problems with the software just PM me and I will try to fix what is wrong.

    Now back to the topic.....

    Ivanhoe.....When you say:

Of course you are right that that is the way that the "right wing" Tories think, but I also believe that there is much more to the Tories in general than that.

In fact the "untrustworthyness" of politicians runs right through many of the parties and is not just reserved for Tory politicians.

One would think that if that is how they are perceived by the electorate that they might try hard to get our trust back.

Maybe they are just too arrogant to even realise that that is how we feel about them ?

Papa, there is no more to the Tory's than that. The right wing have been with us since the 80's, including under New Labour to the shame of Tony Blair. If the British people havent woken up to right wing Tory rule and what it means, by now. They never will.

A good bit of advice that was given to me many years ago was: "Never underestimate your enemies" and I believe that if we are not going to do that with the Tories we have to know them as well as we know ourselves.

In my estimation, your simplistic view of the Tories leaves you wide open for their often plausible and quietly-systematic abuse.

Oh yes, they are much more dangerous than their obvious flaws would indicate.

Papa, again, there is but one Agenda of the Tory right wing. Power, and at any cost. The usual gimmick is tax cuts, which works very well on the sheep like British public.

AND..... as I have often said to you, my friend: "Such stereotypical opinions on the Tories - or any other political party for that matter - belies what is really going on in the depths of the Tory machine and in politics in particular".

These are SOME of the qualities of the Tories, but they have many many more that are bad and sometimes even good.

Nobody is all bad and to think so, in my opinion, is a very dangerous and prejudiced stance to take.
