Danny Alexander widens the coalition rift.....

Post by papa_umau on Sat 01 Jun 2013, 11:58 am

Danny Alexander, a Liberal Democrat member of Cameron's cabinet, has widened the gulf in the government over the subject of Britain's membership of the EU.

In an interview that highlights deep divisions within Britain's two-party coalition over Europe, Alexander, the number two at Britain's finance ministry and a member of the Liberal Democrat party, the junior coalition partner, said a British EU exit would be "catastrophic at every level".

Not only is the subject of Europe seriously damaging the Tory party itself, but with the help of their Liberal Democrat coalition partners it is threatening to rip apart the coalition as well.

I have to ask: Can the subject of Europe be any more damaging than it already is when the coalition partners are so vehemently opposed on this subject ?

They have to show that they are acting like Lib Dems even if they are part of the Tory machine.

Their own supporters expect this to happen.

I honestly cannot see this coalition falling apart as long as they are continuing to get stuff done.

They are going to have to be torn out of power and thrown onto the scrap heap at the next election.

    I for one cannot wait.

    Me too Zath !

I agree that I don't think that the rift between the Tories and their Lib-Dem partners is ever going to be bad enough to cause the coalition to collapse, but, I do think that what has gone on during this period of government is going to cause both partners in the coalition to fall into a hole that they will be unable to get out of.

The Liberal Democrats in particular are going to suffer a defeat like they have never seen before.

    Roll on 2015. Twisted Evil
