    Taxpayers face Royal Mail rip-off.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 06 May 2013, 11:36 am

The selling off of the Royal Mail could see the taxpayers being "ripped-off", Labour said today.

The Labour party accuses the Tory-led coalition of rushing to sell this state entity to raise cash, despite opposition from postal staff and other groups.

Shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna said: "Little justification has been given for the rushing though of this fire sale !"

"Badly executed privatisations result in sub-standard services and many people being ripped-off."

The Communication Workers Union said: "We don't want our nation's assets flogged off at bargain-basement prices !"

It looks to me that the Tories are trying very hard to get just about everything that is in the British public domain sold off to their privateer pals before they are confined to the dustbin of history at the next general election.

Like all of the other previous Tory privatisations, once it has been done it is going to be VERY difficult to reverse.

Hi guys and gals; I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday, as I am. bounce

    Anyway, back to the topic.

The Tories have been talking about flogging off the Royal Mail for a very long time and now it is beginning to look as if they are finally going to do it.

There is a saying that goes with this kind of action, and it is called "flogging off the family silver".

Labour used to get that indictment chucked at it but since those days the Tories have really run with the idea.

The quicker we get rid of this bunch of idiots the better, as if we let them away with it there will be nothing left in public ownership at all.

As long as the term 'Royal' is removed, I am personally not very bothered.

    A valid point HG !

I have noticed that many privatised entities still continue to use prefixes that they have no right to.

The "Royal" one is one of them and then there is the "national" ones like British Gas and British Telecom etc' etc'

I have always thought that any company that is privately owned should NEVER be allowed to use such national-ised prefixes in their name.
