Workers still being blacklisted for being union members.

Post by papa_umau on Sun 05 May 2013, 11:59 am

I have always thought that since the workers' right to join a union had been universally accepted as an inalienable right that companies had stopped blacklisting such people for only wanting to be members of a union.

Seemingly, this is not the case and individual workers are STILL being targetted and blacklisted for being members of a union or even for making complaints about health and safety rules that were seen as not being applied properly.

Now it seems that a Scottish MSP has called for any such firms to be named and shamed in a fight to enforce this right.

From the online Scottish Sunday Mail:

Labour MSP calls for probe to name and shame the guilty firms blacklisting workers

WORKERS have been targeted because they were union members or complained about health and safety and MSP Neil Findlay said the firms responsible must be identified.

    That's criminal Paps.

I had thought that that old move had been removed from the annals of workplace abuse.

Thatcher, the old, dead, witch, is still hitting workplace relations after she grabbed much of the power of the unions in her haydays.

Blacklisting should just never happen in these supposedly enlightened times.

If the government of the day let them do it they will continue to do it.

Here is a GOVERNMENT site that talks about this reprehensible habit even if technically it is still not illegal.
