    Consumerism gone mad....maybe ?

Post by papa_umau on Mon 11 Mar 2013, 12:24 pm

About four or five times a year we see the marketeers and the media advertisers going into hype as each of these periods come upon us.

"What do you mean" I hear you ask ?

I mean, that at every change of season and during every holiday we see events like Mothers day, Fathers day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and all of our own family birthdays etc' going into consumerism overdrive.

I suppose when someone like me starts to talk like this I can expect to be attacked for being mean, but what I am actually saying is not to NOT celebrate these special days, but just not to get caught up in all of the marketeering hype that goes with each of these events.

HERE is an article that I found online today that discusses this phenomenon.

    What do you think ?

I have to admit that I agree with just about all of that.

It seems that soon after any "special" event has been passed there is another one being advertised so that we have to keep constantly putting our hands into our pockets.

Mind you, I find it quite easy to simply ignore most of this hype.

Yes folks, it is now a battle on the high-street and the internet for us to avoid getting caught in the traps laid by the marketeers out there.

The "them and us" situation is getting steadily worse by the day and minute.
