A gun carrying nutter is the same as a drunk person behind the wheel of a car that weighs a ton, to dismiss a car as a weapon is just ridiculous. Is this because a car in a normal persons hand is just transport, but surely a gun in a normal persons hand is just a lump of metal?

there is a reason why bikers call a car a "death box"

ON the question if america is ready, I would say 50% of it, but the problem with the amendment of the bill of rights, would raise further areguement to ammend the full document, which would lead to a split nation, and a reason to raise civil war. yes this extreme, but the reason for the original war was not slavery....

Yeah well given that the legislation for gun control is only gonna cost the american public $500,000,000 it should be fine and we should be gun free within weeks.

Yes, it is people that make the difference here; of that there is no doubt, but I still have to say that we cannot equate what can be done with a car in the hands of a drunk with what can be done by a nutcase holding a gun or guns.

The car needs to be driven badly and deliberately by a responsible drunk to kill a person or a few persons but a gun in the hands of a nutcase, ( especially an assault rifle ), can kill dozens if not hundreds just by the act of crooking a finger.

These two "bits of metal" are not comparable !

Sound like another bit of sarcasm Tuppence ?

It is going to take more that a bit of dismissive sarcasm to sort out that problem in America and it is going to take a lot of caring people who treat it seriously to even start to deal with this awful legacy of the days of the cowboys.

    Just another slogan Tuppence !

That "polite society" would then be decided by who had the biggest and most powerful gun and we - or should I more correctly say, YOU, would be off on another arms race.
