    More sleaze from New Labour

Post by Guest on Mon 01 Oct 2012, 5:44 pm

Was revealed yesterday that token muslim politician Keith Vaz has stashed over 500 000 in secret bank accounts

Labour fit for power? I think not - thank heavens for the coalition!

That, to me, looks like the Torygraph doing another bit of rabble-rousing. Nothing more.

Ethnicity and party-politics aside - as that has no bearing here - I have always been sure that many politicians on both sides of the political divide try to hide where their money comes from and they spend an inordinate amount of time trying to be sneaky with the tax-man.

This is a typically human trait and failing and many people in the past that have had money have gone to extraordinary lengths to be able to hang on to it.

For this reason I have always felt that the legal practice of "tax-avoidance" should be-classified as illegal "tax evasion" and those that practice it should feel the full force of the law coming down on their heads.

A powerful argument for flat rate tax I feel.

As to 'Vazeline' as they call him, more revelations that he is still trying to hide the fruits of his days at the trough

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/labour/9580214/Vazs-extreme-mortgage-bill-was-seven-times-higher-than-pay.html

I don't think its tax avoidance, it's to do with his position as a 'man of the people' or not as it now seems

Even the idea of "flat-rate" taxation is pure nonsense as surely it is fair that those that can afford to pay more tax on their earnings SHOULD pay more than those at the bottom who are already struggling just to subsist in this very rich country ?

As some smart person once said: "The only things that are constant are death and taxes!" I think that if there must be taxation then it also must be fair and legal and nobody, and I mean NOBODY, should be able to wheedle out of their responsibility to pay their fair share of this burden.

How is it 'fair' that one person pays more tax than another?

Why would you blame "New-Labour" for this as that version of the Labour party does not exist any-more ?

That was another thing that Ed Miliband confirmed during his speech at the labour conference.

This flat rate tax, Papa, sounds more like a head tax like the poll tax.

Surely the more people earn, the more tax they should pay ? they are still earning more.
