Cuts on the one hand and crazy expense on the other.

Post by zathrus on Thu 05 Jul 2012, 1:36 pm

After that crash up north between the two Tornado GR4 war-planes and the recent death of one of the two survivors of the four that went down with their aircraft, I wonder if the politicians that keep cutting these front-line services and by these cuts forcing old and poorly-maintained equipment to be put into service, putting our brave servicemen at risk while they do it, should be allowed to continue any longer ?

The point I am trying, badly, to make here is that while they are still willing to spend billions of pounds upgrading our outdated nuclear deterrent, they are making so many massive cuts in the service personnel and the vital equipment that we might actually need to defend ourselves with in any real and possible future war, we seem to be saving money in the wrong places while we spend what we haven't got rebuilding a nuclear deterrent that we almost certainly will not need.

Does anybody else here feel that our soldiers, seamen and airmen are being ripped off by these stupid and foolish actions ?

You are so right on that one Zath' !

It seems that so long as the individual expenses are counted in the billions of pounds they are all right but when it means throwing more and more trained service personnel on the dole and producing an army navy and air-force on the cheap they seem happy to do this, not caring what harm they do to the service personnel that they are chucking onto this proverbial scrap heap.

Yes Papa, doesn't it just sicken you that people don't seem to matter in this government but things do.

They are willing to throw billions we don't have after Trident two and yet they will not spend a few millions ensuring that the jobs are safe for expensively-trained soldiers sailors and airmen.

They won't even ensure, by spending a few million more that the aircraft that the airmen have to fly are new, well maintained and safe.

This double standard really sickens me. Evil or Very Mad

Me too Angie, as it has become more than obvious that this government cares nothing for people's lives while it goes about it's business of promoting rampant privatisation and the cutting of jobs everywhere it reaches.

I would have thought that by this time the people of this country would be well ware that a Tory government will NEVER care about the ordinary people of Britain.
