Are the Lib-Dems losing heart ?

Post by papa_umau on Fri 02 Sep 2011, 2:23 pm

In a report today it was released that the Liberal Democrat party has spent even less money on election expenses than many of the tiny parties have spent.

They had to submit their figures to the Electoral Commission within three months as they had spent less than 250,000. Their 176,000 election bill put them in with the parties like the Christian Party and the Pirate Party in the election-spending league.

What does this suggest to you ?

Does it suggest that they feel that they have so little chance of getting many seats that they just do not think that spending money on advertising their election chances is worth the while of what could be called accepted levels of spending on a party that is serious - or not - about getting elected ?

If they are not losing heart they bloody well should be as they watch their leader sell their principles down the swannee.

I really cannot understand why the Liberal Democrat faithful have not rounded on Clegg and his Tory-like cohorts in order to put them in their place.

"Down the swannee" eh ? I like that saying and I might keep it in my library of sayings to use in the future somewhere - if you don't mind. Laughing

That aside, I certainly do agree that they - the Liberal Democrats - must be hurting very badly at the moment as they watch Clegg tear apart their vision of what Liberal Democrat politics should look like.

I am sure that it is all going to eventualy end in tears.

I feel Clegg is in an invidious position in his double role. A coalition is not a good place to be right now, especially as Leader of the Lib-Dems.

The guy is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

    Cheers, HG
