Ed Miliband starts working on the energy companies.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 01 Aug 2011, 12:25 pm

Labour leader Ed Miliband wants to stop the energy firms from overcharging their customers.

He believes that consumers pay too much because the "big six" have too strong a grip on the market.

After his summer break, Miliband plans to lauch a campaign to break up British Gas, E.ON, EDF, nPower, Scottish and Southern and Scottish Power.

Deputy leader, Harriet Harmon, said that he had been inspired by the sinking of the Murdoch BSkyB bid. She added "if public interest can over-ride the plans of a billionaire, perhaps it's the same as what could happen to the energy companies.

I have always said this and it is now great that some politicians agree with me at last ! Twisted Evil

Sorry Paps but I am not so sure that Miliband will do all he says there.

I wait with baited breath to see what he does when he gets back from his holidays.

I have to agree with you that he is a bit of an unknown quantity so far and the quicker that he gets back from his holidays and gets stuck into his job as leader of the opposition, the better.

He needs to start to take a stance very soon as if he does not we will see the next election looming and we will not know what he really stands for.

I have faith that he WILL do this and that is why I am looking forward to the next term of a working parliament.
