The politicans from all hues are well aware that the elderly of this country are the ones that are more liable to actually get off their backsides and vote and even while they know this I do not think that they are worried enough about what we do when we DO go out to vote.

While the more elderly of the country are better interested in politics than the young ones are I think that we are far too fragmented and set in our ways in our historical support for certain parties.

I found it rather strange to see fewer and fewer of the originals marching at the cenotaph and yet here we are still sending our boys out to die for questionable wars in foreign lands.

Someone once said that it is the politicans that start wars and it is because of the spilled blood of the soldiers sailors and airmen and the deaths of the innocents that they are eventually stopped.

It seems that we have not learned much in the interim have we ?

What do you folks think ?

Why? I hear you ask.

Well yesterday it was claimed that a large proportion of the elderly people in Britain simply do not know anything about computers or about how to get onto the internet in order to look after banking, bills and other matters.

Obviously this is not the case as far as WE are concerned as we prove that we are quite literate around computers by the fact that we are here reading and writing to this and other forums.

The perceived "insult" might come because ...

While I am sure that few people who are experiencing living on a pension will disagree that even if it is already hard living from day to day in these expensive times it becomes much worse and much harder at Christmas time.

Grans and grandads like to be able to treat their grandchildren at this time and they like to have a bit of luxury around them at this season too and yet many of them will be sad that they are unable to find the money to spend on their grandchildren or even their children ...

For years now this government have been dishing out one-off payments for high winter-fuel costs and for a derisive Christmas bonus, ( which has not been upgraded for years ), and they make all pensioners fill in a VERY complex and intrusive means test form if they feel that they need to apply for benefits or tax credits etc.

Now maybe it is time that these charitable handouts were scrapped and the pensioners of Britain were excluded from all income tax payments. At least this way we would ...

Hi all

I don't know if you have seen the ridiculous amounts of foreign aid (Some £9 Billion and counting) that this corrupt communist government is handing out to so-called poor countries (not our fault they're poor but that's another story) yet it decides to award our pensioners a pittance in comparison.

Where's the justice in that I ask? Do you feel hard done by? you should and write to your MP and ask him why this is happening?

Another subject that will come to everybody eventually is:....what do we want for ourselves when we become too infirm to stay at home any more ?

I would like to think that the state would provide high-quality care for the people who are in their last few years so that this transition from a full and active life to a life of dependence on others is carried out as efficiently, as humanely and as carefully as it can be.

It is patently NOT like this !

Not being connected in any way to religious dogma I find that the subject of voluntary euthanasia for me comes down to basic humanity and about what is right and what is wrong.

I have considered this idea at great depth, ( without getting maudlin about it, I have to say ), as I have always felt that humans have the exact same or better rights than animals have when their lives become too much to bear or the pain that they are enduring because of serious illness is crying out for some act ...

For a while now I have been considering the idea that ROB2 should have a section especially for the pensioners out there. This should include all people who receive a self-created private pension, an occupational pension, or a state pension, as all of these pensions are worthy of discussion.

Don't think that just because you are not old enough to contribute to such a type of forum as all people who are living in Britain will come to this soon enough, ( that is if you survive to qualify for ...
