For years now this government have been dishing out one-off payments for high winter-fuel costs and for a derisive Christmas bonus, ( which has not been upgraded for years ), and they make all pensioners fill in a VERY complex and intrusive means test form if they feel that they need to apply for benefits or tax credits etc.

Now maybe it is time that these charitable handouts were scrapped and the pensioners of Britain were excluded from all income tax payments. At least this way we would ...

While I am sure that few people who are experiencing living on a pension will disagree that even if it is already hard living from day to day in these expensive times it becomes much worse and much harder at Christmas time.

Grans and grandads like to be able to treat their grandchildren at this time and they like to have a bit of luxury around them at this season too and yet many of them will be sad that they are unable to find the money to spend on their grandchildren or even their children ...

I was not able to come on yesterday as I was away all day with a girlfriend doing some serious retail therapy.

I guess that this is a "girl" thing as I don't know any blokes that actually like the shopping bit of buying stuff; they just seem to know what they want, know where to get it and they get in and out as quickly as possible. No fun in that is there ?

Foreword.....

Many of you will already know of "the corporate bully syndrome" as you will have seen it both here and on the old "ROB" and you will recognise it when you have see it in past newspaper and TV articles. The TV programme, Watchdog, has shown this phenomenon on many occasions.

One of the very special qualities of this syndrome is that when the big bully corporate entities are faced with exposure on national TV or in national newspapers ...

I take a much different stance over the dumping of nuclear waste and the practice of leaving "hot" nuclear submarines to lie and rot in docks that are close to towns and cities.

I think it was brave of the BBC to give him the chance to air his views on network TV as because we live in a democratic society even the worst kind of minority political parties should be allowed a voice.

It appears that Griffin showed his true self when he was put to the test as he supported the Klu-Klux-Klan ...

These costs are both set at £76.00 and this £152.00 will have to come out of the pockets of retired or withdrawn operatives before they can come back to work. Some 90,000 nurses in Britain are going to be placed under this burden so that they can come back and dig the NHS out of a hole.

The call followed a probe launched after a daily newspaper revealed the extent of this illegal practice in Scotland alone.

Official figures here showed that nearly 3,600 workers were underpaid in 2008-9 - more than double the figures from two years previously.

While this practice has only been measured in Scotland I cannot imagine what they might be for the whole of the country.

I was shocked but not surprised to read today that the Strathclyde Police Chief Constable, Stephen House, has run up a bill of £6,000 of local taxpayers money to pay for curtains and carpets in his new home.

This is even worse when we know that Strathclyde Police Force are at present running at more than £34million in the red.

It seems that this cop - just like our politican friends - feels that such things should not be bought from his £234,000 a year salary.

I don't know if you have seen the ridiculous amounts of foreign aid (Some £9 Billion and counting) that this corrupt communist government is handing out to so-called poor countries (not our fault they're poor but that's another story) yet it decides to award our pensioners a pittance in comparison.

Where's the justice in that I ask? Do you feel hard done by? you should and write to your MP and ask him why this is happening?

Bad enough that the real ones cost around £150.00 a pop but worse that a bunch of counterfeit ones are on the market at less than the retail price.

The worrying thing about these fakes is that they look exactly like the real thing, are packaged in high-end packaging and come with a DVD to show how they work. It is ...

Not supporting any particular political mob, I still think that the practice of The Sun tabloid to jump around searching for winners to back in the political mire is distasteful and smacks of treachery.

This bottom-of-the-barrel tabloid is famous for not having any allegiance to anybody but the "winning" side and this shows a distinct lack of moral fibre and any decency in this dog-eat-dog business.

It seems, from a report in the Guardian today that almost all of the best places in our top universities are already gone and that is just a week or so after the highers and "A" grades have been awarded to the brightest of our pupils.

If this story is true then there has to be something wrong with our university clearing system as if all the places are already gone there is going to be a lot of bright sixth formers that are going to lose out on university places and a chance of ...

I got this in an email this morning, it's been around for a while but still relevant even though Papa and Invanhoe won't like it

THIS IS LABOUR GOVERNMENT

REST OF THE WORLD VERSION:

The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ...

I found it pleasing today to see that the EU have had a profound effect on the charges that the telephone service providers make when people use their roaming facilities while abroad.

Because the EU have imposed an across the board maximum on roaming charges a cut of around 60% has been the result.

At one time the operators were making profits of above 200 per cent on calls made while roaming and 300 to 400 per cent for received calls.

The European Commission had already tried ...

I have had a pet subject for some time which is based around the use of the fuel-cell and the burning of hydrogen in this clever bit of kit.

I have waxed lyrically about the Honda FCX Clarity - which is the world's leader in this technology - but now we are seeing more companies getting in on this motive-power of the not-too-distant future.

HERE is only one page from a Google search that deals with this up-and-coming technology.

The latest one to hit the headlines is the Kia Borrego ...

I have waxed lyrical in the past about the fact that Scotland's two largest and busiest airports do not have a rail-link from Edinburgh or Glasgow cities. I have always found this to be totally ridiculous in these days of important commercial connections never mind for people who are going on holiday.

The Edinburgh local authority and the national government promised that the new tram link would go to Edinburgh airport but they have now cancelled this connection.

Yesterday the SNP government ...

I am sure that many of you - if not all of you - will be aware that the public sector is buried under mountains of paper as they go about their bureaucratic business. While many of the private sector companies also indulge in paper-pushing they are in the main better at applying the "paperless office" practice.

I for one, being an ex-civil servant, know that while the paper-mountains that the civil service generates is usually recycled paper and by that can be said to be "from ...

I was shocked and yet not surprised that four top bosses in the failed MG-Rover plant, that went bust in 2005, took a total of £42 million out of the company in the four years since they bought it for a tenner and just before it collapsed and threw 6,300 workers at Longbridge onto the dole.

Chairman John Towers took out £8.958 million.

Director Peter Beale took out £8.981 million.

Deputy Chairman Nick Stephenson took out £8.976 million.

Director John Edwards took ...
